Answer: Chemical injuries are very dangerous in the eye and require prompt treatment with irrigation. An inflammed, red conjunctiva is actually a good sign as it means that the injury wasn’t so bad that it blanched/cooked away the conjunctival and episcleral vessels.
You really have to worry, though, when the cornea is hazy and the conjunctiva looks snow white.
