Question: What is presbyopia?
Answer: Presbyopia is when the lens hardens as we age. The lens inside the eye has the ability to change shape – this is important for focussing, especially with reading. After age 40, the lens hardens to the point that it becomes difficult for the lens to round out enough to see up close, thus the need for reading glasses.
